Barricada (CDMX)
For this piece I recreated a street barricade commonly found in Mexico City. They are a permanent fixture of the daily lives of the people in certain neighborhoods where protests against the government are common. The police set these barricades up on the sidewalks for when protests do break out they can be shut, essentially closing off entire parts of the city. I wanted to explore if a change in context changed its function and how a people not accustomed to having a permanent barricade in there daily life would react to this sudden intervention.
